You can log out of your account and never use it again if you decide that you no longer want to participate on the site.You don't have to close your account.If you're concerned about your identity being tied to your contributions and want to tie up some loose ends, there are some ways to completely disassociate from the account that you created.An account's contributions can't be deleted, but they can be completely anonymized.You will never be linked to the edits made from that account again.
Step 1: The "Request to Change" form is here.
Step 2: The account will be closed if you select the option.
"I am closing my account, and I understand that this isn't going to change", it reads.
Step 3: Enter your name.
You can write "N/A" for what you want your usernames changed to.
Step 4: Wait for your account to be closed.
Most requests are dealt with within a day or two.If you have reason to believe that your account isn't closed, you can email us.
Step 5: If you want to stop logging back in, log out.
You are a volunteer.You don't have to contribute at wikiHow.If you want to quit, all you have to do is stop signing in.It's up to you if you want to sign in again in the future or not.You can add retired to your talk page to let people know you're no longer on the site.
Step 6: If you want to stop getting messages from wikiHow, you have to remove your email.
Go to your preferences.You can remove any e-mail addresses associated with your account by clicking on Notifications.Leave the email address blank.You can turn off email notifications by clicking on the "disable" option next to theReceive emails from wikiHow option.If you don't want to disassociate your email, then do this.
Step 7: If you want to remove personal information from your user page, erase it.
From the top of any page, click on the "My Profile" button.To remove your profile box information, click on "My User Page", and confirm when the dialog box pops up.You can click on the edit tab.Remove everything that's there.Click on "Publish".Your user page will be blank.By viewing the page history, people will still be able to see the historical user page edits.If you want to have the history erased as well, you should consider full account closure.
Step 8: If you want to remove old messages, you should erase your talk page.
On your user page, go to the "Talk" tab, and on the talk page press "Edit" to remove all the content.You don't have to nominate the page for deletion.You probably don't put any identifying information on your talk page.The easiest way to do this is to press the Cmd+A on the Mac.ThePublish button can be pressed at the bottom of the page.By viewing the page history, people will still be able to see the historical talk page edits.If you want to have the history erased, you should consider full account closure.
Step 9: If you want, you can change the display name.
You can change your name and nickname by going to preferences.The URL of your profile page will be used to attribute your work if you leave the fields blank.
