When food particles start to build up, it's important to clean the grate.Cleaning the grate after each use will improve the quality of your food, prevent harmfulbacteria from building up, and lower the risk of fire hazard.Different care is required for porcelain and cast iron grates. The same deep cleaning method can be used for all three.
Step 1: You should read your owner's manual.
The Porcelain coating is very fragile and can easily be damaged.Follow the manufacturer's instructions. You could void your warranty if you didn't.
Step 2: While the grill is still hot, use a nylon scrubber brush.
The coating on the grate can be removed with a brass brush.A curved brush can get in between the grating.Rub in a diagonal motion.Start at the point that is closest to you.The risk of damage to the coating can be mitigated by moving in one direction. You should wet the brush before scrubbing if you have barbecue sauce.
Step 3: The underside of the grill needs to be cleaned.
After it has cooled, flip the grill over. The brush can be used to remove excess food and gunk.It will take a bit more time to clean the underside because of the drippings. The grate needs to be scrubbed until it is completely clean. If you have a grate that comes in multiple sections, you should flip and clean each part separately.
Step 4: A grill brush made of steel is a good choice.
The bristles are soft enough to protect the grate. You can choose between a roll brush or a straight brush. The roll brush is more effective at cleaning the sides of the grill.
Step 5: The grill needs to be hot.
It will be easier to clean up grease that is softened by this.If the grill isn't at the high setting already, turn it on.When the temperature gauge reaches 500 to 600 F, let it heat up for 10 to 15 minutes. The burners should be turned off.
Step 6: The grate needs to be cleaned.
The first bar has a back-and-forth motion.Continue until the bar is free of grease. The process should be repeated on the rest of the grate.
Step 7: Put vegetable oil on the grate.
The oil can be picked up by dipping the towel into it.The towel should be placed in a pair of tongs. This will make your grate last longer.Don't use more than a small amount of oil.It can cause a dangerous flare-up if it drips onto smoldering food particles below the grate.
Step 8: Take the grate out of the solution.
One cup of vinegar and two cups of baking soda should be mixed together.Put the solution in a garbage bag or container that is large enough to fit the grate. The grate should be placed in the solution and soaked overnight. The container should have a cover on it.The garbage bag should be fastened with a rubber band.
Step 9: The grate should be removed and washed.
Remove the cover from the container and untie the rubber band. The grates need to be lifted out of the solution. You can rinse them down with a garden hose. The food should fall off.
Step 10: If necessary, scrub off the gunk.
There is a nylon brush for porcelain-coated grates.Move with gentle diagonal strokes.Cast iron or stainless steel can be used to handle bristles. You can move in a horizontal direction.
Step 11: It's a good idea to rinse and dry the grate.
One last time, put the grates down. The microfiber towel will dry the surface.Next, replace the grill.
