Cool air is provided through swamp coolers.The method of cooling saves more energy than an air conditioner.You should clean your unit at least once a year.Change the pads if you want to clean your swamp cooler.
Step 1: Take out the fiber pads.

Step 5: The water has to be scrubbed.
Use a scrub brush or cloth to clean the bottom of the water tank.If you have to, make sure to remove all stains and build up.After scrubbing the water, rinse it with clean water.
Step 6: Make sure to check the mechanical parts.
lubricating oil should be used on the motor and fan of the swamp cooler.To lubricate the parts, use a few drops.The fan belt needs to be checked.Make sure that the tension is not sagging.The fan belt should not move more than half an inch.
Step 7: Fresh fiber pads should be installed.
shears are used to cut the pads from the padding roll.Cut the shape of the new pads using the old fiber pads you pulled out at the beginning.The pads should be installed in the same places as before.
Step 8: The reservoir should be filled.
The water needs to be cut back on.The water should be let to refill.
Step 9: The panels should be replaced.
To make sure the panels are attached correctly, there is a double check.Plug the cooler in again and turn it on.Make sure the fan and pump are working.
Step 10: The cooler has to be wiped down.
You should clean the outside of the swamp cooler every few weeks.The unit should be turned off.To clean off the outside of the unit, use a damp cloth.Don't use a lot of water.Don't use harsh chemicals that can cause damage.
Step 11: The pads need to be checked every few months.
The cooling pads need to be changed twice a year, once at the beginning of the season and once in the middle.The pads may wear out quicker.If the local water quality is low, you may need to replace the pads more often.The pads should be checked every few months for cracks and poor condition.
Step 12: The tank should be kept off when not in use.
The swamp cooler is not likely to be used during the colder months.The entire system should be shut down when the cooler is not in use.The cooler needs to be turned off and plugged in.Cut off the water supply.The swamp cooler should be kept in the original carton.
Step 13: If you want to eliminate odors, add essential oils to the swamp cooler.
Musty smells can be found in swamp coolers.The swamp cooler smell can be improved by mixing 15 drops of a scented essential oil with a mixture of essential oils.Put the essential oils in a spray bottle.After you have cleaned the swamp cooler, spray the essential oil mixture into it.
