You may only be able to read it using a later translation if it was originally published in an unfamiliar language.The original author and translator of a translated book need to be listed in your citation.Depending on whether you're using the Modern Language Association, American Psychological Association or Chicago citation style, the format for doing this varies.
Step 1: Start with the author or translator.

Step 3: You should add the name you didn't put first.

Step 4: Inform with publication information.
To type the publisher's name, use the parentheses.After the publisher's name, type in the year the translation was published.There is a time to close out your citation.The original author example is Dostoevsky.The Karamazov family.It was written by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky.Pevear and Richard were translators.Brothers Karamazov.The book was written by Fyodor Dostoevsky, Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
Step 5: You should put the name first in parenthetical citations.
The full citation in your "Works Cited" is what your in-text citation is meant to tell your reader.Your parenthetical should include the translator's name along with the page number for the material you're citing.The original author's name should be used in your parenthetical citation as well.The original author example was Dostoevsky 112.
Step 6: The name of the original author is what you should start with.

Step 7: The translation's publication year is added.

Step 8: The book's title should be provided in italics.

Step 9: The translator's name should be included in parentheses.

Step 10: There is a list of publication information.

Step 11: At the end of your citation, put the original publication date.

Step 12: You can include both publication years in your citation.

Step 13: The name of the original author is what you should start your entry with.

Step 15: You should list the translator for the edition you are reading.

Step 16: The citation should be closed with publication information.
