You can learn how to change the permissions on Windows.An administrator or system owner can set who has permission to read, write, and modify the contents of a drive, folder, or file on Windows.
Step 1: You can open file explorer.
The icon looks like a folder with a blue clip.You can browse drives, folders and files on your computer with File Explorer.
Step 2: Click on a drive, folder or file.
If you want to change the permissions on a drive, folder or file, use File Explorer.The sidebar contains drives, quick access folders and favorite folders.A pop-up menu is displayed to the right of the drive, folder, or file when right-clicking it.
Step 3: Click on the properties you want to view.
It is at the bottom of the pop-up menu when you click on a drive.This shows the menu for an item.
Step 4: You can click on the Security tab.
There are tabs at the top of the menu.Permissions for different users and groups are set in the security tab.
Step 5: You can click on a user or group.
Group and user names are listed in a box at the top of the properties window.The blue highlights the user or group and the box on the bottom shows the permission for that user.
Step 6: Click to change it.
The groups and user names box is below it.
Step 7: Next to the box is "Deny".
There are different levels of permission users and groups can have.Unless the "Deny" box is checked, users and groups are allowed by default.This permission allows a user to do anything with the file, folder, or drive.This permission allows a user or group to view a folder or drive and create or remove new sub-folders.This permission allows a user or group to view and run a file if it's a program.The contents and attributes of a folder can be displayed by a user or group.This permission allows a user or group to view a file but not make changes to it.Users can make changes to a file with this permission.
Step 8: Click to apply.
There is a button in the lower right corner.A pop-up window will appear if the user is in more than one group.If the user is in more than one group, a pop-up informs you that "Deny" entries take precedence.The user will be denied the permission if they are in two groups and one is allowed and the other is denied.Click to confirm.
