Step 1: You can get Adobe Digital Editions on your computer.
Adobe Digital Editions is required for older Nook models without the option of downloads.You can use your computer to mediation between your Nook and online library account.You can use a library computer to complete this process if you don't have a computer of your own.
Step 2: You have to create an ADE account.
You can create an account with Adobe Digital Editions by using the same email address you used to activation your Nook.You will be able to transfer books from your computer to your e-reader if you create an account.The download and transfer process can be difficult if you use an email different from your Nook email.
Step 3: You need to connect your Nook to your computer.
You can connect your Nook to your computer when you pause at this point.Make sure your Nook is registered with Adobe.
Step 4: You can open the book with Adobe.

Step 7: You can return a book on your Nook.
Plug your Nook into your computer and open Adobe after you've finished your library book.You can return a book from your library on your Nook.
Step 8: Click on the book you want to return.
Click on the "Return Book" inside of the Adobe program to complete the return.If you want to verify your return has gone through, you can minimize Adobe and check your library account.Nook customer service or your library may be able to help you if your book does not come back.
Step 9: The app can be downloaded to your Nook.
Nook models now have the ability to download apps.You can download a Nook compatible app from the company that most libraries use for digital lending.
Step 10: You can find your local library in the app.
You will need your library card to borrow from it.To get a list of the available titles, you need to find your specific library in the search tab.
Step 11: Select the book you want to borrow.
Once you have selected the book you want to borrow, you can check it out using your library card.You will be able to read your book through the app.
Step 12: Before the book expires, read it.
The library book will have a lending period on it.When the lending period is over, the book will be removed from your bookshelf, and you will not be able to read it until it has been checked out again.
Step 13: You should have two pieces of mail with you.
Proof of residency is required in order to get a library card.Before you go to the library, you should get two pieces of mail with your name and address on them, such as a bank statement or utility bill.Proof of residency is usually requested for children or teenagers.
Step 14: Take your state-issued ID.
You need to prove that you are who you claim to be.ID is required for your library branch.Students may be able to use their school ID cards if they have a state-issued license.
Step 15: Go to your local library.
You should visit your local library in person with the required documents if you want to get a library card online.You may be required to pay a yearly fee if you live outside of the area.You have to have a library card in order to use library resources.
Step 16: Your online library profile needs to be set up.
You should set up your online library profile while at the library.This uses your library card barcode and password.You have to create an online library profile to check out items.Different libraries have different ways to set up an online account.Some instructions are simple, while others require a library to complete the process for you.
Step 17: Select the book you want to borrow.
Use the online catalog to find the book you want to borrow.You can narrow your search by including digital download books only.
Step 18: You can choose the length of time you want to borrow the book for.
The standard borrowing window is 21 days, but some accounts give you the option of choosing a shorter period, such as seven or fourteen days.You can choose the time period that best suits your needs.If you know you are a slow reader, you should only check out one digital book at a time.
Step 19: If you want to download, choose the correct format.
Depending on the reader you are using, Overdrive has a few download options.The options should include a PDF, a Nook, and a Kindle format.The Nook might read something similar.
