You can become a Royal Air Force pilot if you want to serve the United Kingdom.It takes some work to become a pilot, but it is a noble and exciting career.In order to become a full pilot, you have to undergo specialized training and meet other requirements.
Step 1: You need to be a UK resident for at least 5 years.
You can't have spent more than 28 days a year outside of the United Kingdom.When you join the military, you will have to undergo more eligibility checks.It's fine if you spend 27 days a year on vacation.You will need to explain the reason for your travel on your application if you spend 29 or more days out of the country in a single year.Documentation such as your birth certificate, passport, and educational qualifications are required for the additional eligibility checks.By the time of your enlistment, you must be a citizen of the United Kingdom.You can meet this requirement if you are a British citizen, hold dual citizenship with the UK and another country, or be a Commonwealth citizen.
Step 2: To become a pilot, you need to be between 17 and 25.
To apply for pilot training school, you have to be at least 17 years old, but no older than 25.Before you can join the military, you have to get consent from a parent or guardian.
Step 3: You should pass your secondary education exams in at least five subjects.
If you want to become a pilot with the Royal Air Force, you need to have your General Certificates of Secondary Education (GCSEs) at grade C or above in English, mathematics, and at least 3 other subjects.You need to have taken at least 2 A2 Level exams and have earned a minimum of 64 Universities and Colleges Admissions Service points.Most schools require their students to pass 5 exams with a grade C or higher before they can move on to A2 Level exams.You don't have to take specific exams to become an RAF pilot, other than the English and Maths exams.
Step 4: 12 years of service in the Royal Air Force is what you should be willing to commit to.
The minimum length of service is required for pilots.You can re-up your service after 12 years if you remain in good standing in the RAF.
Step 5: The application process can be started by visiting the website.
An invitation will be sent to your email if you fill out the registration information on the website.You will be able to start your application online once you receive this invitation.The website for the recruitment of the Royal Air Force is: https://www.raf.mod.uk/recruitment.
Step 6: To demonstrate your physical health, pass two physical fitness tests.
After you submit your enlistment application, you will have to pass at least 2 fitness tests and meet minimum standards for your sex and age.The tests include a treadmill run, press-ups, and sit ups.Male applicants must complete their run within 11:11 minutes.Female applicants have to finish their run in 13:23 minutes and do 10 press-ups.
Step 7: You should have your eyesight and body mass index assessed.
If you want to serve in the military, you need to know if you have enough sight and body health.Your application will be rejected if you have a body mass index that is outside of the acceptable range.The acceptable range for applicants younger than 18 is 17 to 27.The acceptable body mass index range is 18 to 28 for applicants 18 and older.
Step 8: If you want to get Security Check level clearance, you have to go through a background check.
This is a basic background check to determine if there are any disqualifying factors in your past that would prevent you from serving in the RAF.You will have to declare any unspent convictions if you have a background check.Some roles in the RAF require applicants to reveal any spent convictions in their past up front.Membership in an extremists group, extreme political affiliations, and offensive tattoos are some of the disqualifying factors.
Step 9: To demonstrate your ability, complete a series of tests.
The tests will be done on computers at the officers and aircrew selection centre.How well you project confidence and leadership abilities will be the focus of the 2 interviews.You should give answers during the interviews that highlight your accomplishments.The goal of the interviewers is to assess how good of a fit you are for a leadership position.The final steps of the pilot selection process will take place at the officers and aircrew selection centre.
Step 10: Initial officer training will help develop your leadership skills.
This training regimen focuses on leadership and management training from RAF personnel, as well as basic military studies.You have to complete 3 different terms before you can move on to the next.There is training at the ROF College Cranwell.
Step 11: To begin your specialist training, move on to Elementary Flying Training.
The basics of flight, aircraft technology, and meteorology are taught to students.Taking off and landing are some of the more direct skills involved in flying.Students can either fly the Tutor or the Prefect aircraft.Instruments, formation flying, and navigation are some of the more advanced skills you will learn through EFT.
Step 12: Continue your training in a specific class of aircraft.
You will be streamed into one of 3 different training types after you finish EFT.You can give your preference as to which type of training you go into, but where you are streamed will be decided by your trainers.Fighter jets are trained to fly fast by those who go into fast jet training.pilots are trained to fly large multi-engine aircraftPeople who go into training are taught to fly.
