You can set the server options so that only specific computers can use the network if you run a local area network.Adding an internet protocol address to a server can be used to do that.The process can be done in a few steps.
Step 1: You can access the Command Prompt.
The Start/Orb button can be found on the bottom-right corner of the computer screen.To open the Command Prompt window, type in cmd on the search field and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
Step 2: The network identity of the computer can be obtained.
Inside the Command Prompt window, type in the "ipconfig" command and press the Enter key.This window will show the network identity of the computer.
Step 3: Get its internet protocol address.
The network identity and the value beside the "ipv4 address" field are displayed on the Command Prompt window.
Step 4: There is a control panel on the window server computer.
Click the Start/Orb button to open the menu and select the Control Panel from the list.
Step 5: The server has local area settings.
The server's Local Area status will open a new window if you select "Network and Sharing Center" from the Control Panel.The Local Area Connection Status window has aProperties button on the lower left corner.
Step 6: The Internet Protocol properties window can be opened.
Click theProperties button on the lower-right corner of the Local Area Connection window if you want to change the internet protocol version.
Step 7: Add the address to your computer.
The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window has a button called the "Advance" button.Click the button and type in the address that you want to add.
Step 8: You can save the settings.
Click the "OK" button on every window that you've opened if you want to add addresses you like.
