Household items can be used to make weights for strength and fitness.Milk jugs, canned goods, and other everyday objects can help you stay in shape.Keep fit and save money at the same time.
Step 1: Use a jug for milk.
The jug should be filled with water, sand, rocks, or concrete. To complete your exercise reps, use the handles to lift and lower the jug.Milk jug hand weights can be used for bicep curls, tricep exercises, bent-over rows, pec flyes, and shoulder raises. When you are doing squats or lunges, you can hold the weights to your sides.
Step 2: Lift canned goods.
Simple hand weights work well with canned goods. If you are starting out and trying to build muscles slowly, this is great.Medicine balls or heavier canned goods can be used.
Step 3: Dumbbells can be made from plastic water bottles.
If you don't want to recycle your plastic water and soda bottles, you can put pebbles or sand in them. The weights for both hands should be the same when filling them. The bottles should be lifted like a dumbbell.
Step 4: Arm weights can be made with water bottles.
The method of attaching multiple bottles to your arms is similar to attaching wrist weights. Before putting them on your arms, fill them with sand. After you fill them with sand, add water.Scotch tape the plastic bottles around your forearm when they are filled. The tape only touches the bottles to hold them together.Don't attach duct tape to your skin.Place the bottles in a way that they won't slide off your arms.
Step 5: A weighted medicine ball can be made from a basketball.
Attach a hole to one of the black stripes with an old basketball. The hole should be big enough to hold the material.Put a funnel in the hole and fill it with sand or pebbles. You can fill the hole with a bike tire patch kit.If you don't have a tire patch kit, you can use duct tape. The ball can be used as a medicine ball.
Step 6: Wrist weights can be made from socks.
Put dry beans in a clean sock. For a heavier weight, use pebbles or small craft rocks.Glue or sew the end of the sock.If you want to remove it easily, sew it onto the ends. The scale can be used to adjust the weight. If you want to cut the excess fabric, fill the sock as full as possible. The inside material won't fit if you want to make heavier weights.Make sure to choose a long one that will wrap around your wrist.Cut the excess fabric before closing the end if the sock is too long.
Step 7: You can use packets of rice or beans.
If you are a beginner, these packages are great. You can use them to do bicep curls from the cabinet.
Step 8: Bicycle tire tubes can be cut into weights.
Cut the bicycle inner tube into equal lengths.Put duct tape on one end of the tube and fill it with sand.Put duct tape on the other end.You can either bend them into circles or leave them flat and secure the ends with duct tape. This method can be used to make weights of different sizes.Start at 1 or 3 pounds. You can try weights up to 8 pounds. Before closing the weights, use a scale to weight them out.
Step 9: A weighted vest is needed.
There are multiple small pockets in a fishing vest.Put the bags in the pockets with sand or concrete.Run, pull up, push ups, or walk while wearing a weighted vest.
Step 10: Use paint cans.
You can hold paint cans by their handles.Paint cans are a little heavier than plastic bottles, so you can use them as you build muscle. You can use the cans like dumbbells with the handles.
Step 11: Use buckets of 5 gallons or more.
The bucket can be filled with sand, rocks, concrete, or even water.Attach two of them to a bar or board and use it as a bench press.
Step 12: You can make a barbell with water bottles.
Take 2 packs of 6 bottles and duct tape them to the iron bar.Lifting and pressing the barbell will be good for any exercise you do with it.Don't use half filled bottles if the 2 packs are too much. The half-filled bottles will shake the bar.Tape bottles to the bar.Use four or six packs of bottles taped to the bar if 2 packs aren't enough. You can tape bottles to the bar.First line them along the bar side by side, then stack them on top of each other. To grip the bar in wide and narrow grips, leave plenty of room for your hands. The taping needs to work.Wrap the packs with horizontal, vertical, and diagonal rounds.
Step 13: There are old tires in the yard.
Gymnasts use tires in their workouts.Adding weights to regular tires can be done, or you can go to a junkyard and find tractor tires. You can use a tire as a weight by flipping them and tying a rope behind them.
Step 14: A tube is built.
There are plastic tubes filled with water. The workout benefits come from the fact that you have to use muscles to keep the water balanced as it goes from one end of the tube to the other. You can use a pipe to make a tube. The pipe is about 10 cm in diameter and 9 feet long.Place a cap on one end and fill the pipe with water. You should cap the other end.
Step 15: You can use a bag to make a bomb.
Sandbags are similar to slosh tubes in that they are unstable and require you to engage more muscles. The bags should be filled with sand. You want it to be around 50 or 60 pounds.Double bag the bags so they don't break. The bags should be put into the bag.You are ready to work out when you zip up the bag.An old army/navy rucksack or canvas laundry bag can be used to make a sandbag.Garbage bags can be used to fill with pea gravel. They can be filled with 10, 20, or 25 pounds.Put gravel in 5 or 6 bags and secure them with duct tape.Put them in the bag with your desired weight.Sand or gravel can be added or removed for different weights. Before you start working out, you should use a scale to determine how heavy the bag is.You can add sand or gravel directly into the bag if you don't want to change the weight. If you do this, you can't easily remove the weight. The sand or gravel can move around if you leave some room in the interior bags.If you add a lot of weight, use a sturdy bag.
Step 16: You can use a milk jug.
You can fill a gallon jug or 2 liter bottle with water or sand. The jug needs to have a handle to complete the exercises.
Step 17: There are old paint cans that can be used as kettlebells.
Old paint cans can be used to make great improvised kettlebells. You can use the paint can for dumbbell exercises.
Step 18: A potato sack is a good place to make a kettlebell.
Most grocery stores have potato, rice, or sugar shipping sacks. When you have reached the desired weight, fill the sack with sand.Tie a loop at the top of the sack. The loop should be secured with rope or duct tape.Duct tape can be used to reinforce the sides and bottom of the bag. This method can be used to make multiple kettlebells.Measure out how much weight you are putting into the sacks with a scale.
