The bands that go around the neck are called trach ties.They have the tube in place.Trach ties are made from different materials.A soft cloth is usually used.One piece of material may be the tric tie.It may be in two parts.
If the ties are wet or dirty, change them.Every 24 hours, trach ties are changed.It's important to keep the ties clean.The skin can be irritated by wet or dirty tchotchkes.The skin can get red and sore.Call the doctor if your child has any skin problems.
Someone may be able to help you change the ties.You hold the tric in place when ties are removed.The other removes the used tie, cleans the skin, and tightens it to keep the tube in the stoma.
