How do you take off a security tag from clothing?
I was left to deal with this after the store forgot to do this.The security tag on my mom's gloves was still attached when she went to use them, even though she paid for them not to be stolen.You can use the following to free your clothing articles.
Here you have it.This device is locked in place by the super tight miniature pin.You don't need much if you have the right tools.A pair of horse nippers.These should be kept around at all times.They are a huge pair of toenail clippers.Heavy duty wire cutter will work here, but might be a little harder to work with.A screwdriver with a skinny head.
Start by taking your clippers and cutting the back of the security tag.This might take a while, but removing as much as possible will help you later.
A tiny spike of metal can be seen after you cut the plastic back.There is a piece of paper around it.Take any sharp object and destroy it.You need to be able to see what's beneath it.
There is only one thing left to do.Take your screwdriver and pry up the side of the security tag.This is made of high strength steel and will take more effort than it looks.Before the pin slides out of the tag, you don't need to budge it.That's it!

Did this one have an ink pack?I assume not...When attempting this on an ink filled unit, please be careful.If you tried to remove the security pack, the store doesn't have to return it.When they blow/leak out onto expensive things, it's hilarious.

I didn't know how to remove it without damaging the item.When we went through a self-checkout, the tag didn't show up on the way out, and the checker was only interested in counting the items in the cart.The stupid tag could have cost me the trip.

If you return the item and make a big deal of it, they will give them to you for free.If you have to drive back to the store to have a security device removed, the cost could be more than the item cost.I don't think you should pay for the trip back.If it's a $100 item, they may not.It would be ok if a discount was given.

They did this to me on a DVD.I removed the security device.I used a dremel tool to cut it off.Every time I enter or exit a store, the TV remote control sets off their security alarm.I think the bare circuit board is mistaken for a security tag.I had to put my project inside a small baggie.The baggie is anti-static and prevents the alarm from going off.I can go into stores and turn off all their TV's using my made remote.They turn back on after a few minutes since they are in Retail display mode.Watching people when the wall of TV's turns off is hilarious.I'm the Diet Coke of bad taste.

I am in Australia and our tags are slightly different.I went shopping today and came home with my goods, all paid for and legit, but there is a tag on them.We live in the bush and town is 2 hours away so going back any time soon just for that was not an option.!

I removed the rectangular ink-filled kind from a Land's End sweater by biting the soft plastic on the smaller portion of the device with a pliers.The spring metal clip had a slit through which the pin could be inserted.It would have been quicker to use a can opener that punches a hole in a juice can top, a large pin or small nail with a curved tip through the plastic right beside the pin, or press the tabs upward to release it.The second method is to turn one piece ninety degrees relative to the other and use two pairs of pliers to grab the ends of the smaller rectangular piece.Simply bend both ends downward over the portion containing the ink, curving the clip until the slit opens enough to release the pin.

The above security tag is secured by a metal retainer when it's placed in the electric tag remover at the cashwrap and it is not removed by an "electro magnet".For educational purposes, please do not go to your local clothing store if you have more than 50 dollars in your account, and most companies have a must prosecute law for anything over that amount.

As you have probably removed the security tag by now, just incase your waiting for a reply, strong magnets are easily obtainable over the net, usually called neo magnets or "technically referred to as" neodymium magnets " or rare earth magnets and usually.

I find freezing the tags works well in my experience of removing them.It gives you some room for error.
