- Always have a 1/8" to 1/4" bleed all around the image (for 3D effects, horizontal bleed should be at least 1/2")
- Avoid thin lines, especially going the same direction as the lens.
- Avoid type smaller than 14 points.
What are lenticular sheets used for?
Lenticular is an auto stereoscopic solution it allows the viewing of a 3D (depth) image without the need for special 3D glasses. It is based on a technology in which a lenticular sheet is used to separate the left and right eye images, creating the perception of depth in printed images without special glasses.
What are lenticular cards?
Lenticular plastic cards have an uneven surface, containing of tiny elevations made of lens and prisms. Those elevations are printed with different motives concerning your perspective so that the view changes depending on the angle from which the card is viewed or held.
How does a lenticular image work?
Lenticular print combines a clear plastic lens front layer with a printed backing layer. The print may be onto conventional paper which is then carefully aligned and laminated to the plastic lens material, or it may be directly printed (often by UV inkjet) onto the smooth rear face of the clear plastic.
What is lenticular made of?
The lenticular lens is made of extruded clear plastic lenticules (“ribs”) running vertically ranging from 40 lines per inch to 150 lines per inch.
So in some cases, lenticular can be quite expensive and in some cases, it won 't make economical sense to use it. But as long as you are printing at least 500 pieces and/or your message has a high-value target, it can be quite cost-effective and perhaps even the most efficient way of reaching your customer.May 1, 2020
