How did you find the best place to put your pot filler?
I'm not sure why people place pot over the range or off to the side.
If you want to talk me out of one, that's fine as well.I have to know these things to make a decision. It's TIA.
It was installed without asking where, and now it's 21" above the range, which is above my head. Can anyone tell me how high my installation is?
I made sure I had a place where I could reach all the burners.I have a Capital range and all of the burners are the same size so I might be boiling water on any of them.
Thank you bee. That is very smart. The big burner is on the far side of the stove.Thank you! That's right.
I decided where I thought it looked right in terms of height by centering mine from right to left over the range.I checked to make sure it didn't need to be adjusted to reach any burner, and that it was high enough to use for my tallest pot.It may be set a bit higher than others because of what I wanted to do visually with the niche and accent tile. The longer drop for the water is more dramatic.
I wouldn't try to talk you out of it.My note is heavy.Make sure that the wall supports the pipe.
Another help now.The pot filler from Chicago does not ship to California. It needs to be an environmental standard.
It's okay, faucet.direct doesn't seem to have that limitation, unless they tell you before you checkout.
I didn't put in a potfiller because the code says that any exterior wall with plumbing needs to be 6 inches deep instead of the standard 4.Extra insulation is needed to make sure the pipes don't freeze. We have barely enough room for adequate aisles, island seating, and other items so we couldn't afford to lose that floorspace.
It really worries me that you don't have a sink under that faucet to flush the water that's been sitting in the pipes. There was a thread that brought this to my attention.
My solution was to make sure that the pullout spray on my island prep sink faucet reached across the aisle to the pot on the rangetop.
On the morning that the dry wall was going in on the wall, I was asked where it should be located so I quickly searched on GW and also did a search on pot filler location. It's in the middle and above the range top.Looks great.
Bee and I have the same pot filling. The mistake we made was trying to place it on the height of the largest pot we would use, and this is for a Summer house on Cape Cod.We use that pot 5 times a year for lobsters. It's too high because I use the pot filler all the time for pasta. We don't experience a lot of splashing, but it would be better if it were lower.I would get your most commonly used pot and highest pot to see how different they are.Go with the pot you use the most if it's a lot.
Before the walls were in and before the pot filler was here, I was asked to choose the location.I looked up the specifications online, which helped me place it.You might have to think about what the back of the range will look like.If you have a picture frame setup with decorative tile, you should take that into account. The best place to draw it out was in the center.I would have probably lived with the wrong one if I hadn't done all of the planning. When I told him it was wrong, he was a little upset. The bling is on the focal point of my new kitchen and I love using it.
I made my own functional thing.I didn't use a traditional "pot filler".I used a ladylux groh regular faucet.
A cabinet designer friend in California said there's a specific height required by code.If that's the case, you might want to check your local code. That's right.
I returned the one I had because the spout was even higher. It got to about 3 inches higher than the wall mount hole and then with the stacked pipes that pivot out.
I have a pot filler that lowers as it gets to the spout, so I should be able to deal with it.
Thanks for the heads up.I called the city building department to make sure there were no restrictions.
I'm most likely going to have them do it on Monday.Disappointing!
I did not know if I would ever use a potfiller.Adding water to sauce pans is something I use it for.I use it more than I thought. The KD suggested a height of 12 feet above counter height and centered. It turned out to be centered between the counter and vent hood because I chose to put it at 14.
I put it over the left burners.I use the left more often than the right side of the 5 burner stove, and it doesn't fully reach the front burner, but that's ok with me.Aesthetics was one of the reasons. When the potfiller is folded back against the wall, I preferred the look of it being centered over the left, which looked off balance to me.
