For a budget-friendly marble counter look, I use contact paper. It's easy to install and keep clean, and I recently applied it to the island counter in my studio. It makes a great backdrop for my videos.
I install faux marble contact paper over the counter in our RV renovations and get a lot of questions about it.
Contact paper can be used on countertops.I've put it on three different countertops and two different materials.
Depending on the contact paper you use and the material on which it's installed, it usually does.
You can.Contact paper has been put on wood butcher block countertops.
I think this marble look contact paper from Amazon is the best for counters.D-C-Fix is a vinyl film that is easy to clean, water resistant, and more durable than traditional contact paper.I've used this contact paper 3 times and it's held up well.I think it looks great.
It can be difficult to apply contact paper around a sink. You can create a template from scrap paper by tracing around the perimeter and laying the paper over the sink.Add 12 to 1 on the cut lines for error if you use this template as a pattern.
Adding caulking around the sink and where the counter meets the wall will keep contact paper from lifting and give it a finished look.
It can be difficult to cover counter corners.I like to cut a notch in the corner of the paper and then fold it in half.Use a blow dryer to heat the vinyl and then smooth it down with your hand.
You can try to match the patterns in your vinyl with the ones in the contact paper. It's better to join as close as possible rather than overlap them for a smooth look. You can buy D-C-Fix at different lengths.
The same D-C-Fix product can be washed with soap and water.I haven't had any issues with staining or ripping yet, but this will depend on how often you use your counter and what you put on it.
The contact paper I'm using is heat resistant to 170F.You should check the specifications on the product you buy.
Contact paper countertops are a great solution for a beautiful looking countertop on a budget. They are easy to install and look good for the money. This is a great solution for a small rental kitchen or an RV kitchen.Contact paper counters are a good solution for someone who doesn't want to cover counter they dislike until they can afford new ones.Would I use these for a long term countertop in my kitchen?Probably not.Contact paper countertops are a great way to make them.
