Cashmere is very easy to dye. An immersion dye bath is the usual method, this means you prepare a vat of dye and soak the garment in it. in a yellow bath, it will come out green. Select a fibre-reactive dye, my favourite is Procion MX, This is available in fibre arts stores (weaving, dying etc.) or on line.

Can you paint on sweater?
Although regular acrylic paint would (technically) work, I recommend using fabric paint. Before you start painting, place a few pieces of newspaper inside your sweater to keep paint from bleeding through. Then, using a foam brush, paint your design. Slightly dampen your brush, and dab the paint in place.
