There is a constant battle between good and evil in spiritual warfare. It can be easy to ignore, but the outcome of each fight can have long-term consequences. You need to understand the nature of the battle, the weapons and defensive tools you have available to you, and the types of attacks you can expect to face in order to do spiritual warfare.
Step 1: Your focus should be on the spiritual realm.
The term spiritual warfare suggests that it occurs in the spiritual realm. If you don't address a problem at its spiritual root, you will not be able to combat it effectively."For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, and against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places," says the Apostle Paul.According to this verse, spiritual warfare is warfare against powers that are not of the flesh.Things that happen in the physical realm can have spiritual consequences as well.Your spirit is strengthened by obeying to God in your earthly life.Your spirit will be weakened if you violate God's law.As James said, "Submit yourselves to God."The devil will flee from you if you resist him.To resist the devil, you have to submit to God.
Step 2: Don't let God's power stop you.
You can't win against the enemy unless you have God's power.Accepting the salvation offered to you by Christ requires you to rely on God's power. Each victory is a gift from God.While relying on God's authority over evil, you must rebuke the devil in Jesus' name. The archangel Michael says "The Lord rebuke you" when fighting with the devil. It is no wonder that the Christian must rely on the name and power of Christ to rebuke evil. The name of Christ alone doesn't do the work. You need to lean on your relationship with Christ as a Christian. The seven sons of Sceva used the name Jesus to drive out evil spirits, but they didn't have a relationship with Christ. They were defeated by an evil spirit because they placed their faith in the wrong part of the process. They used the name of Jesus, but they didn't really know him.
Step 3: Don't think of any proud thoughts.
The power to do battle within the spiritual war is granted to you by Christ. If you start taking pride in that power as if it were your own, you need to stop.Satan may be able to use the sin of pride against you.You need to be humble to truly submit to God.It is not possible for you to truly submit yourself to the will of another if you believe that your own power can be equal. If two powers are similar, you hold them to the same standard. You need the power of God to do spiritual warfare. If you have pride in your own power, let it go.The Bible says to lean not on your own understanding. He will make your paths straight if you acknowledge him.
Step 4: Show self-control.
You have to remain obedient to God while doing spiritual warfare. In order to achieve such a level of obedientness, you must exercise great self-control.The apostle Paul told believers to be strong in the Lord. The term "in" is not "by."You need more than God's power to win your spiritual battles. In the battles you face, you must be in fellowship with Christ.Adherence and self-control are needed to do this.Obeying God's commands and resisting or ridding yourself of any force that would influence you to do otherwise is what you must do.Self-control requires you to take care of yourself. If you want to balance yourself, you need to resist the urge to indulge in things that can cause spiritual decay.
Step 5: Don't stop being alert.
Peter says to be alert and sober. The devil is looking for someone to devour. It is possible that an attack will come when you least expect it.You need to remain aware of the spiritual battleground and guard yourself against potential attacks.Don't treat the battle lightly. You must always be prepared to defend yourself because the enemy is always ready to attack.Take the time to pray and meditate when you wake up.Ask God to help you."God I can't do this, but you can," is a good prayer to say.
Step 6: You should know what the armor of God is.
Christians should wear the "armor of God" at all times to protect themselves against Satan. The armor of God is described in the bible."If you put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the will of the devil," the passage says. The protection and weapons offered to you by your faith in Christ will allow you to stand strong and hold out against evil attacks of a spiritual nature.
Step 7: The belt is for truth.
Stand, therefore, having girded your waist with truth. The "Father of lies" is Satan, who is often referred to as the opposite of the truth.Arming yourself with the "belt of truth" is a way to protect yourself from deception.Jesus rejected Satan's temptations in the wilderness with the help of the Bible.Quote the Bible to refute the lies of Satan. You must speak the truth to everyone, including yourself, if you want to cling to the reality.Don't allow yourself to be deceived.
Step 8: The breastplate has the word "righteous" written on it.
The breastplate of righteousness is referred to in the second part of the book. The righteousness of Christ is not halfhearted or fallible. You have to rely on the righteousness of Christ to protect your heart against spiritual attacks just as a breastplate would protect it in a physical battle. If Satan tries to tell you that you aren't righteous, quote Romans 3:22, "This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe."
Step 9: Slip on the sandals of peace.
The apostle tells believers to "shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace."The good news of salvation is referred to as the "gospel of peace".As you travel into enemy territory, you will need to take the gospel of peace with you. Each step protects your soul.Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you.Protection from Satan is included.
Step 10: The shield of faith is to be grabbed.
You should take the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.Faith is a must when engaging in spiritual warfare.Faith can protect you against attacks launched by the enemy.Remember that God is good, and that he has good plans for you, when Satan tells you lies about him.
Step 11: You have to wear the helmet of salvation.
Take the helmet of salvation. The spiritual salvation Christ offers through his death and resurrection is referred to in this passage. The helmet of salvation can be seen as the knowledge of spiritual salvation. The helmet of salvation protects the mind from spiritual attacks and false claims that would turn your mind away from God.
Step 12: The sword of the spirit needs to be wrested.
You are told to take the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.The Word of God is described in the passage as the sword of the spirit. You need an understanding of the Bible to yield the sword. It is possible to use your knowledge of scriptures as a rebuttal to spiritual attacks. The word of God is active. It is sharper than a double-edged sword because it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Step 13: Don't let your guard down in the spirit.
The whole armor of God's final verse states that you should always pray and supplication with the help of the spirit and all the saints. The Apostle Paul highlights the importance of relying on God for spiritual strength through the practice of steady and ongoing prayer in choosing these words to wrap up the passage on the armor of God."pray without ceasing" is what the Bible tells us.Constantly pray for God's protection and help in your life. The power of God is a set of tools that God gives to believers, but it is the power that the believer must rely on.
Step 14: Prepare for both attacks and repels.
You have to tear down strongholds built in your mind. You have to guard yourself against future attacks. An enemy stronghold is a lie that has already been built. It may make it harder for you to resist the power of temptation or to see through Satan's lies, because it gains strength by deception and accusation. These strongholds have a tendency to become louder and stronger when you are alone, so you need to tear them down using the spiritual weapons God has granted you.It will be easier to guard yourself against future attacks as these strongholds diminish.
Step 15: Fight against lies.
The enemy uses deception to trick you into believing something that is not true.Eve was deceived into believing that no harm would come to her if she ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden ofEDEN.When fighting against deception, you rely on the belt of truth and the sword of the spirit. The sword of the spirit allows you to fight against deception, while the belt of truth is your defense.Fighting against deception requires you to understand truth.A thorough understanding of Scripture is needed to understand truth.
Step 16: It's a battle of temptation.
When the enemy uses temptation, he tries to make it look good and appealing to you.Temptation usually follows deception.Eve was tempted to eat the forbidden fruit after being deceived into thinking that doing so would be acceptable. It can only look good to you if you have been tricked into thinking it is good. You have to resist the devil while drawing closer to God to deal with temptation. As you put them into practice, both elements go hand-in-hand.Through prayer, Bible study, and worship, you can draw near to God.You will turn away from evil as you draw closer to God.
Step 17: Don't handle accusations.
The enemy will try to make the believer feel bad by accusing them of using past sins and faults.Satan is referred to as the accuser of the brethren by the Bible."There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus," says the verse. The shield of faith is one of the best defenses against accusation. When the enemy fires an attack against you using your past failures as fodder, you need to rely on your faith in Christ to protect yourself. The helmet of salvation and the breastplate of Christ's righteousness can be used to guard against such attacks.
