Dry fasts help cleanse your body by eliminating all food and water.A dry fast that lasts 1 day will cause you to eliminate the same amount of water weight and toxins in your body as a 3-day water fast.It is dangerous to cut food and water from your diet since it can cause dehydration. It's a good idea to consult with your doctor before you start.
Step 1: If you want to build up to a dry fast, try a water or juice.
If you try to start with a dry fast, it may shock your system.A water fast allows you to drink water throughout the day, while a juice fast lets you drink fruit and vegetable juice.Pick 1 day to drink a juice or water and see how your body handles it, followed by a day where you eat normally. You can change days where you eat normally with fast days.If you feel comfortable, you can start a dry fast after doing a 4-5 water or juice fast.If it will affect other medical conditions, you should consult with your doctor.
Step 2: If you're first time, choose a soft dry fast.
You can come in contact with water with a soft dry fast.If you've never done a dry fast before, start with a soft one.Since your skin absorbs the water, you're less likely to get dehydrated. If you've done soft dry fasts before, you can try a hard dry one where you don't have any water on you.If you feel comfortable with it, do a hard dry fast.
Step 3: Before you start, eat a meal with salt and Omega 3s.
Foods with healthy Omega 3 fats include mackerel, salmon, and avocados. These foods break down slowly so you don't feel hungry.Adding salt to the last meal before your fast will help your body retain vitamins and minerals that promote healthy functions. If you're not, your body will get rid of them. You can try a fish oil supplement before you start your fast to help break it down.
Step 4: For 16 to 24 hours stop eating and drinking.
Since you're not getting any energy from food or drinks, it can take a toll on your body.If you want to do a dry fast, only do it for a day at a time with at least 2 regular eating days after. This helps you set a goal that is easy to achieve.Since it could lead to dehydration, avoid doing any fast longer than 24 hours.
Step 5: During your fast, do low energy activities.
You may feel less energetic since you're not drinking any fluids or eating food.If you want to distract yourself from hunger and thirst, do yoga, meditation, or just relax at home.Light exercises, such as walking around the block or dumbbell curls with low weights, can be done if you need to.Try to journal how your body feels as a distraction.
Step 6: If you're not feeling well, rest.
It's normal for your body to be tired during a dry fast, so sleep to pass the time.Sleeping can help keep your energy up.Light stretches and walking around your home will wake you up more when you get out of bed.If you feel exhausted, take naps throughout the day.
Step 7: Do not drink water if you feel unwell.
Dehydration can harm your bodily functions over time.If you notice a loss of balance, stop the dry and drink water to rehydrate.Less frequent urination, dry skin, low blood pressure, and rapid heart rate are some of the symptoms of dehydration. If you feel any of these symptoms, break your fast.
Step 8: Immediately after you fast, drink 1 US pt.
When you're done with your fast, drink 1 US pt of water slowly.Don't overload your system by taking small sips from your glass. It's a good idea to coat it around your mouth before swallowing. If you finish the glass of water, don't eat or drink for another hour. It's a good idea to drink water quickly after a fast.
Step 9: After you break the fast, have 1 US pt of water per hour.
Water can be reintroduced back into your diet.As you drink the water, take small sips.Continue to have 1 US pt of water for the first few hours after your fast. You will start to feel more energetic as you drink. If you weren't fast, drink water after 3-4 hours.
Step 10: Try small amounts of healthy food for the first day after a fast.
For a light snack, choose dried fruits such as raisins, figs, and apricots. If you have the portion size listed on the packaging, you don't have to eat as much when your fast is over. For the rest of the day, eat unsalted nuts or a piece of fruit. You can start eating again after a day.
Step 11: For at least 2 days, avoid foods with high levels of sugars and salts.
It is possible to reverse the weight loss from your dry fast.Don't eat cured meats, soups, sweets, or grains. For the first few meals, choose foods that are low in calories. When you start eating normally, use light seasoning or no seasoning at all.A plain cooked chicken breast with green vegetables is a great meal to have after a fast.
