Dina Merrill was an American actress, heiress, businesswoman, and philanthropist.It was [1][2].

Merrill was born in New York City on December 29, 1923, but her date of birth was given as December 9, 1925.Merrill was the only child of Marjorie Merriweather Post and her second husband Edward Francis Hutton.

Merrill dropped out of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City after graduating from Miss Porter's School and went to George Washington University.She studied acting under Uta Hagen.She received a lifetime achievement award from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.[8]

She borrowed the stage name Dina Merrill from her father's famous stock broker name.Merrill made her debut in the play in 1945.10

Merrill was proclaimed "Hollywood's new Grace Kelly" in 1959 after being marketed as a replacement for Kelly.[2]

A Nice Little Bank That Should Be Robbed was one of Merrill's film credits.She appeared in a number of made-for-TV movies.

The intellectual property of the RKO Radio Pictures movie studio was acquired by Merrill and her third husband, Ted Hartley, in 1991.

Merrill appeared on several network television game and panel shows in the 1960s and 1970s, including Match Game, To Tell the Truth, What's My Line, and Hollywood Squares.

Merrill was a vice president of the New York City Mission Society.Merrill joined the board of directors of her father's company in 1980.[9]

Merrill was married three times.She married Stanley M. Rumbough Jr., heir to the Colgate-Palmolive toothpaste fortune.They had three children before divorcing in 1966.She wed future Oscar-winning actor Cliff Robertson, with whom she had a daughter, Heather Robertson.The couple divorced in 1986.[15]
