The table below shows the Common Dental Terminology (CDT) codes that should be billed for oral surgery anesthesia services provided on and after January 1, 2016
The way allowances are calculated for the same codes on dental claims may be different.
To submit an anesthesia claim electronically, please include the information noted in the table below.
Anesthesia starts to stop time in military time separated by a dash with no spaces.
For paper claim submissions, please include the start-to-stop time in military time, separated by a dash with no spaces, in the supplemental.
Delays in claim processing and/or inaccurate reimbursement can be caused by failure to follow these claim submission guidelines.There is a right to adjust claims that are not processed according to the guidelines.
When processing claims, additional time will either be rounded up or down by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.The next unit will get additional time greater than eight minutes.Less than eight minutes will be rounded down.
