Apple Mail can be used to change the email reader on Mac.It will be possible for third-party email clients if these adjustments are made.Whenever you click on a "mailto" link online, your email will be automatically opened and sent.Gmail will be the default client for chrome users.
Step 1: You must open the browser.
You can find it in your applications folder.
Step 2: Go to your account.

The extension's installer will be launched.
Step 10: Once prompted, click the "Install" button.
The extension will be installed to your browser.

A new "Options" tab will appear after installing the "Mailto" extension.From the list of email services provided, select your preferred "Mailto" client.).
Step 12: To allow your changes to take effect, you must quit and reopen the browser.
