Can you trade in an old phone for a new one? Apple is now allowing trade-ins for water damaged phones.
Looks like no one has responded in a while.Ask a new question to start the conversation again.
I scratched the bottom corner of my phone last night. It isn't near the button but it is still a crack.I had to pay $169 for the screen to be fixed because my phone went out of warranty in March.I have an Iphone 7 Plus and I was going to trade it in.Is it worth paying $169 for the screen to be fixed in order to hurt the phone's value?Should I turn it in and take the value deduction?

Some phones have a resale value even though they have been damaged, but that is usually a newer model and depends on the extent of the damage. Two years ago, Apple began accepting trade-in of damaged devices. It would either steeply reduct the price or reduce it to where they would just recycle it on the iPhone 7 Plus.
If the phone turns on and the buttons work, Apple will give you $25USD.

An broken screen is not worth much for an Apple trade-in.It can be recycled for nothing.

It would be a better gift if it were repaired.Trade in values are low and disappear with damage.

It depends on how valuable the gift is to the person and who they want to give it to.As a gift, it sounds like it would be more valuable to you.If they repaired it and sold it themselves, they could get more.

If it works, there might be people willing to buy it.Apple considers that to be something that takes the value of the screen repair from the trade in value.I have a small chip in my phone. It works perfectly if that's the case. The trade-in value for Apple goes from 140 to 0.I'm not upset.

The value of the 7 Plus is $25USD, but the OP doesn't have an Apple product. We are not talking about yours or whether it is a poor deal. It's possible to sell it privately for more, but the person has to learn about what to do before they do so.How much is the person's time worth? It is easy to trade it in to Apple, Brightstar, or one of the other companies that buy used electronics.Similar to any other business, there is some variation in what they pay, but it really isn't much different between all of them.
