Can you tell me how to apply spray fixative instead of spray on my oil painting?

When I was doing an oil painting for a school project, I decided to look it up on how to do landscapes, and it said that after you do a light sketch, spray with fixating spray so it doesn't smudge.

Is there any advice on using oils?I think I have it down, I did a painting the other day for practice and it turned out pretty good, my pictures are inspired by Georgia O'keeffe, so any good paintings she did that I could get.I would like to base it on Red Hills.

For hundreds of years, the standard coating to protect an oil painting has been either a clear shellac or varnish.Over time the coating will yellow out, which is a downside to using these. The more modern approach is to use a clear-coat, either a spray or brush.
