Even in the states where they aren't public record, they are often disclosed by the MLS or real estate brokers/agents involved in the transaction. Unless you live in a non-disclosure state AND had an agreement with your agent to keep the purchase price private there is likely nothing you can do.
How do I find out how much a house sold for?
The best way to find out how much a house sold for is to ask a local real estate agent who can look up the house on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). The MLS is a database available to agents who use it to list homes, find homes for sale, and share with each other the sold data for any property listed.
Why does my house say sold on Zillow?
Sold means the closing has already happened. Pending means it's under contract but not yet closed. All those web sites get their information when the listing agent enters it in the propriety multiple listing system. The agents only enter that data after closing.
Does Zillow show sold prices?
As soon as Zillow receives sales data for your home, it will appear in the Price/Tax History section of the property page.
Why does Zillow not show price history?
Zillow receives price history information from a data feed provided by the MLS or the county through third-party data providers. While Zillow is able to assist with editing and/or removing erroneous sales data, we are unable to manually add sales data that has not been reported publicly.
