We appreciate all of the emails about our move.I will be sharing the new house soon. This is the best post I have today and so many of you will love it.Do you have a door that creates chaos in your home? Are you stuck in the space because of a door opening?I am sharing an installation of a barn door.
JELD-WEN Window and Doors has an amazing new Barn Door Kit.The styles of the barn doors are craftsman, old world, contemporary, and farmhouse. There are affiliate links in this post.
The black sliding barn door hardware is gorgeous. The black door hardware is in close proximity to the black kitchen island and black stools. The barn door hardware draws your eye to the ceiling and creates a cohesive look throughout the kitchen.
Barn style doors are great for a closet, basement door, bathroom door or even a built in bookcase. We installed double interior barn doors to cover a bookcase that we converted to hold baking dishes and small kitchen appliances.
You will need to repair the sheet rock and possibly replaster the area if you want to remove door trim. When door trim is removed, it leaves the wall in need of repair. The sheetrock will need a lot of work.
I reached out to a friend to see if she was interested in having a kitchen door replaced.
My friend has a beautiful kitchen but their basement door swings right into their island area creating a major traffic jam when the door is in use.
When I told my friends about the opportunity with JELD-WEN, they were thrilled and couldn't wait to tackle the project.A family friend was on hand to help with the installation.
It took just a Saturday morning to install the JELD-WEN Design Glide Barn Door kit.
The door hinges and standard sized basement door were removed. You can install the door over your existing door trim with the JELD-WEN barn door kit.You don't have to remove the trim.
We used the quick dry version of spackle to fill the area where the previous doors hinges were removed. It took 15 minutes to add touch up paint to the existing door hinge spots.
We put the wood piece above the door frame after it was removed.JELD-WEN supplied a matching white wood head but Sophia wanted the head to match the wall color so she purchased a piece of pine and cut it to the length she needed.
We were good to go after she added two coats of paint. The JELD-WEN wall screws were used to attach the base to the wall.
The sliding track and soft close feature were fastened to the door.We decided not to use the bottom door track because it wasn't necessary for our install. One of the cool features on this door is the Soft Close feature.
You can imagine the slamming that would take place without the Soft Close because they have two kids and this door leads to their playroom in the basement. The door doesn't slam in either direction if the Soft Close is installed on each end of the track.
Are you new here?Jessica updated her story about the death of her grandparents, surviving divorce, and a new marriage proposal.
Many of you can relate to an awkward door swing and this barn door kit would solve a lot of those issues.I can't tell you how amazing this door is.It is functional and pretty, but it is also great quality.
The barn door kit is perfect for a bathroom. The swings on the bathroom doors can make it difficult for two people to pass through a small bathroom. You are golden if you have enough room for the door to slide.
The directions for the sliding kit are easy to follow. The door comes in 4 different styles and we chose the Contemporary Style.
I love how the door looks in their kitchen, it looks like it was made for that spot. Not only can you enter and exit from the basement without bumping the stool or hitting a person who may be in the way, the door provides gorgeous architectural interest.
The wall went from being boring with a door to a wall that is fun and sophisticated.I want this door in our house.JELD-WEN doors can be found at your local Lowes Home Improvement Store.

Looks great!I'm very interested in replacing my existing door for what I call my study, catch all room which is directly left of opening my back door. It's not certain if the steps leading to the basement will work or how much room is needed in the kitchen. What do you think?
