The American Academy of Ophthalmology says you don't need them and has gone on record as not recommending any kind of special eyewear for computer users. The organization says blue light from digital devices does not lead to eye disease and doesn't even cause eyestrain.
Is it worth getting computer glasses?
Yes, computer glasses may help to relieve digital eye strain and they can block or filter blue light from your screen too. Wearing computer glasses and being mindful of your screen time can reduce symptoms associated with digital eye strain, also known as computer vision syndrome.
Do screen glasses actually work?
While there is some evidence that blue light glasses can keep your screen time from messing with your sleep, they're unlikely to relieve digital eyestrain symptoms altogether and won't protect against macular degeneration. “They're certainly not going to hurt you, but there's no evidence that they're helping you.”
