Self-awareness involves knowing who you are at your core, such as values and beliefs, and also knowing your behaviors and tendencies. The first step in knowing you are a person is being aware of yourself. One way to analyze yourself is to build self-awareness, which includes your beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and reactions. There are many ways to understand yourself.
Step 1: Notice what you're thinking.
Your thoughts are part of who you are. They help guide you in how you feel.Look at the content and monitor your thoughts. Are your thoughts negative?Do you think something will go wrong or do you put yourself down?Which areas of your life are hard on you? This should be done in every aspect of your life. You want to think about your thoughts all the time.To remind you to evaluate how you're feeling, try setting 10 daily timers.Being able to observe your feelings will help you realize that you can change what you focus on.
Step 2: A journal can be written in.
To keep track of your thoughts, start a journal and write about your day.Take note of the quality of your journal entries. Is it hopeful or bleak?Do you feel powerful or stuck? To become more aware of who you are, continue to analyze your thoughts.
Step 3: Become familiar with your perception.
Our perception of situations can lead us to make incorrect conclusions. If you thought your friend was angry at you after lunch, you might think you did something wrong. You can analyze why you jumped to the conclusion that she was mad at you by becoming aware of your perception of her mood.Take time to think about what happened when you have a situation like this.Write down what you heard, felt, or saw that made you think in a certain way.If there are outside factors that you are unaware of, ask yourself if there could be other causes for your friends mood.
Step 4: You should recognize your feelings.
Your feelings can give you clues into who you are and why you react in certain ways.Become aware of your reactions to topics of conversations, tones of voices, facial expressions, and body language.Ask yourself why you had this type of emotional response. What were you saying? What made you feel that way?Physical signals can be used to tune you into how you are feeling. If you notice that you are breathing heavier or faster, you may be stressed, mad, or afraid.Writing down your reactions and thoughts will help you figure out how you feel.Time and distance may be needed to recognize how you feel. You can ask a trusted friend or family member to help you figure out what you are thinking and feeling. It may be difficult for you to distance yourself from the ideas in order to know how you feel.
Step 5: Understand what values mean.
Knowing what you value can help you understand who you are. Some values change as you learn more about yourself.Values can be hard to identify because of the term and concept.Your values are what you base your choices on throughout your life.
Step 6: Define your values.
Identifying and defining your values will allow you to realize who you are and what is important to you.To find your values, you will need to spend some time in reflection, analyzing what is important to you and which values make you who you are.Writing your answers to the questions will help you identify your values. What qualities do you like about them? What makes this person so admirable to you?Which possessions would you only have for the rest of your life? Why?What topics, events, or hobbies do you enjoy? Why are they important to you? What makes you passionate about these things? What event made you feel the most fulfilled?Did that time make you feel this way? Why?
Step 7: Group your core values
You should think about what you value and what is important to you.To get a better idea of your core beliefs and ideals, try to group these ideas, moments, and things into core values.Core values include courtesy, honesty, optimism, confidence, friendship, achievement, faith, kindness, justice, trust, and peace.Core values can be used to understand and know yourself better. These values can help you identify what is important to you.You are closer to your true self through analyzing yourself. You may have more than one group of values.Humans are complex and feel many different things. You may value honesty, faith, competence, and confidence in different ways. These are the kinds of situations and people you value around you, as well as the qualities you strive for in yourself.
Step 8: Your story should be written.
It is possible to tell a lot about who you are as well as how you view your life.Writing out your story can give you an idea of how your experiences have affected you.You can use this method to analyze how your experiences helped shape who you are, which includes your values, attitudes, beliefs, biases, reactions, and the way you interact with your world.Even though you've probably made mistakes, you are still a whole and complete human being with inherent self-worth.
Step 9: Look at your story.
When you have written the story of your life, ask yourself the following questions: What are the themes that are present in your story? Are you the person who saves others?Do your stories have a theme of ability or helplessness? Is your story a love story, a comedy, or a drama? What would the title be for your story? The story should be divided into chapters.Where are the chapters located? What has changed? What did you learn? What are the titles of your chapters?Did you mention yourself in your story?Did you label other people? What do those labels tell you about yourself, others, and the world? What words do you use to describe yourself? What do these words tell you about your story?
Step 10: Decide what the analysis means.
You have to decide what your story means.Writing your own story for analysis, which is called narrative therapy, shows you what you think is important or crucial to your existence. It shows the moments in your life that are important to you.It shows you the trajectory of your life so far.If you write your life as a drama, you may feel that it is more dramatic and intense. If you wrote it as a comedy, you might think your life has been good.If you wrote your life as a love story, you might be a romantic who is hoping for love in the future.
Step 11: It can take time.
It can take time even when you follow all of the steps. It is important to understand that the pursuit of becoming more aware of who you are and analyzing yourself is a lifelong pursuit. It is possible that what you believe today may change in the future.
