Agbekor is an African dance form that is used by youth.
Thanks for checking it out!In this post, you will learn about the slow-paced section of Atsiagbek, a traditional warrior drum-and-dance style of the Ewe.This post features a new interactive African drumming multitrack mixer, similar to the 1st and 2nd installments on Gahu and Adzrowo.
One of the oldest drum-and-dance styles in the Ewe canon is called Atsiagbek.Agbek is a narrative piece that weaves together drumming, dancing, singing and chanting to recount the story of a small village that successfully fended off an attack by a large urban army over 500 years ago.The chief of this small village brought together the community's best artists to compose Atsiagbek.
There are seven different instrument types in a traditional Atsiagbek ensemble. In Gahu and Adzrowo there is a series of rhythmic dialogues between the lead drum and the supporting ensemble instruments.None of the six supporting ensemble parts strays from their ostinato rhythm.
Listen to the seven instrumental parts of the Atsiagbek arrangement using the interactive multitrack drumming mixer below. The gankogui and axatse have been consolidated into a single track due to space constraints. The recording of the atsimevu lead drum doesn't include any variations, but rather plays what might be thought of as the drum's "holding pattern."
You can create original mixes by isolating different parts and adjusting instrument levels.Jeremy Cohen plays all the instruments.
This World Music's Audio Mixer has a close help window.Tracks are listed along with other controls. All of the tracks are played at once.If you are currently playing, stop all the tracks at once.If currently playing, resume stops all the tracks at once.M modifies the sound of a single track.S is for solo or unsolos a single track.
