Step 1: Purchase everything you need.
Below is a list of things you'll need. The frame is supposed to fit a queen-size mattress. You will need to go to your local home improvement warehouse to get the three basic things.
Step 2: The bed rail hangers should be on top of the bed.
The bed rails in the frame need this hardware in order to form a rigid connection. The side-rail and head post should be secured with bed rail hangers.Make sure that each placement is consistent. The process should be repeated for all corners.Hardware stores can be hard to find.Check online retailers if it's true.Bed rails are usually sold in 4 sets. You can use lag bolts in the place of bed rail hangers. The bed is very solid when the lag bolts are tightened.Bed rail hangers are more difficult to find than lag bolts.
Step 3: The rails need to be attached.
Attach the support rail to the side rail.Make sure the screws are not more than 12 inches apart. The maximum weight support is provided by this.
Step 4: The support blocks should be created.
The support block and support beam have grooves cut into them. The wider measurement should follow the wider part of the block.
Step 5: Attach the support blocks.
Attach the support blocks to the head rail and foot rail with screws.
Step 6: The rails need to be connected.
Use the bedrail hangers to connect the rails.
Step 7: The support beams should be added.
The support beam should be between the two support blocks.
Step 8: Place your mattress on the plywood surface.
The rails and beam are supported by plywood. It should fit in the bed frame. The mattress can be placed in the frame once this is done.
Step 9: Finished.
Enjoy your new bed!
Step 10: Take your supplies and materials.
You will need a circular saw, a number of L brackets, some plywood, and a few cuts of lumber. You'll need two pieces of 85" 2x4 and five other pieces.
Step 11: The base frame needs to be created.
Use the standard butt joints to join the 75" 2x12s and two of the 57"2s into a 60"x75" box.
Step 12: The base bracers should be added.
Put the box into thirds and then use the screws to put the bracers in place. The base should be set aside.
Step 13: The platform frame should be created.
The two of the 67" 2x4s should be joined into a 70"x85" box using the standard butt joints.
Step 14: The platform bracers can be added.
Put the box in the remaining 67" 2x4s and then use the screws to put the bracers in place.
Step 15: The platform supports can be added.
You will add the 2x4s between the bracers. If you divide them evenly, the leftmost and second right sections have the same supports as the rightmost.Attach these with screws.
Step 16: The corners and joints should be reinforced.
L brackets should be used to reinforce the inside corners of the base and platform.Adding L brackets around some of the interior joints will add strength.
Step 17: The plywood should be added to the surface.
To fit the platform, trace and cut plywood. It will take two pieces of plywood to cover it.Attach the plywood with screws to the inside of the bracers so that they don't show on the platform.
Step 18: The bed should be painted.
Paint or stain the bed after Sanding the wood.
Step 19: Done!
The platform should be on top of the base.If you want to, you can attach the platform to the base with L brackets. You can top it with a full or queen size mattress.
Step 20: You should get your materials.
You'll need two Ikea Expedit bookshelves, several feet of velcro, a saw, decking screws, 24 basic L brackets with mounting screws and lumber in the following cuts.
Step 21: The end boxes need to be created.
You'll be using the lumber to build two end shelves that share the weight of the bed with the Expedit shelves. The boxes were created by connecting two 38" sections of lumber to two 28" sections.3 screws for each connection are used to secure the pieces together.Place the L brackets at the center of each corner.
Step 22: The center brace should be added.
A piece of 2x10 is centered and attached to create two sections in each box.The center brace needs to be secured with L brackets on both sides.
Step 23: If you would like, add in shelves.
If you want to have shelves, you can add them with 1x10 lumber. The shelf should be adjusted to the desired height and the bottom secured with L brackets.
Step 24: There is a backing to the end shelves.
Cut out the backing from the shelves with a jigsaw. If you want to nail it into place, use a pneumatic nail gun.
Step 25: Feet should be added to the end shelves.
Adding felt feet to the bottom of the shelves will keep them from scratching the floors. These can be bought from many different stores.
Step 26: To match the bookcases, paint all of them.
You will want to paint the shelves the same color as the Expedit shelves. You can use spray paint which is graded.
Step 27: Attach the end shelves with plywood.
To make 38"x75", cut a piece of plywood.Attach the plywood to the Expedit shelves by driving two nails through it and into the top of the end shelves. If you want to, you can glue on a non-slip mat.
Step 28: The shelves should be adjusted as necessary.
The Expedit shelves should be adjusted so that they are flush with the end shelves.
Step 29: The finishing touches should be added.
Ikea has inserts for Expedit shelves.Baskets, pull out drawers, and basic doors come in a variety of colors.Enjoy your new bed!The bed cannot support extreme weights and should only be used by a child.
