A Pull Up Lock can be used to retrieve keys locked inside a car.
If you accidentally lock your keys inside of your car, it can be a very bad experience. If you have a pull-up lock, there are a variety of ways you can get your keys. It's important that you don't have an easy way to get into your car, like an open door or a spare key.If you can't get into your car if you've checked all of your doors, you could call someone for help or use a tool to open the door.
Step 1: A long piece of string is needed.
There is a piece of string that is at least 3 feet long. You can use yarn or rope. You can use your shoelaces if you don't have access to any of these materials.
Step 2: Make a slip knot.
Feed one end of the string through the loop to create a slip knot. The same method can be used to make another loop 5 inches away from the first loop.Pull the loose end of the string to tighten the knot after feeding the second loop. You can tighten the knot by pulling on one end.
Step 3: The corner of the door is where the string should be placed.
If you want to wiggle the string back and forth, place it in the top left of the door.Continue wiggling until the string gets inside the car.
Step 4: The lock should be positioned around the loop.
The middle of the string should be closer to the door's lock. You may have to fiddle with the string until you can get the loop over the lock.Drop the loop around the lock.
Step 5: To tighten the loop, pull one end of the string.
Pulling one end of the string will tighten the knot once the loop has caught on the lock.Pull hard to get the string tight around the lock.Older model cars will be easier to open.
Step 6: Do not disengage the lock if you pull up on the string.
Pull on the top part of the string to open the lock. You can now open the door and get your keys.
Step 7: Straighten out the coat.
It's a good idea to bend a coat hanger to make it as straight as possible. It will be easier to open your lock if the coat hanger is longer.
Step 8: Take one end of the hanger and make a V shape.
Wrap around your lock with the "V" side of the hanger. If you make the bent side large, it will wrap around your lock.
Step 9: Between the window and rubber stripping is where the coat hanger should be.
The "V" end of the coat hanger should be moved between the window and the rubber surrounding it.You might have to work the coat hanger back and forth to get it into your car.Continue until the coat hanger slides between the window. It's important that you don't damage the rubber lining around your window.
Step 10: You need to wiggle the coat hanger to get the locking mechanism.
The coat hanger needs to be wiggled back and forth until it gets on the lock. The door's handle should be above the mechanism. It can take a long time to find the pin, so be patient.
Step 11: Pull up to disengage the lock.
If you put the coat hanger around the pin in the door's frame, it will open it.Make sure you grab it before you pull up the coat.
Step 12: A locksmith will be happy to answer your call.
There are locksmiths in the area.If you don't have internet, you can call 411 and ask for a locksmith.Ask the locksmith to meet you at your car after you give them a call.Ask about the rates so you know how much it will cost.
Step 13: You can call for assistance.
Roadside assistance can open your door without damaging your car. These services will usually give you a card with a phone number on it.There are many popular roadside assistance companies.
Step 14: Get the police assistance.
Some departments may not respond to your call unless the car is still running or the vehicle poses a threat to someone, because police officers have the tools to open your car when it's locked.Call the police if you can't get your keys. It's worth asking the officers if they can help you.
