Some pillows are made with microbeads.Microbeads are essentially tiny beads of styrofoam.Read the care and cleaning instructions on the label before attempting to wash a microbead pillow. Some microbead pillows can be washed in a washing machine and dryer, while others can only be cleaned by hand. You can take your microbead pillow with you to the dry cleaner.
Step 1: To clean the outside of the pillow, use a damp, soapy cloth.
To wet the cloth, use warm water and detergent. The soapy cloth should be used to wipe the outside of the pillow.A clean cloth, small towel, or sponge can be used to clean your microbead pillow.Don't use so much water that you soak the fabric of the pillow. The pillow could be damaged if it is submerged in water.
Step 2: There is soap on the outside of the pillow.
If soap remains on the outside fabric of the pillow, use a new cloth and clean warm water.Make sure you rinse the soapy cloth before you use it on the pillow.Try to keep the outside of the pillow dry.You don't want the water to get into the fabric.
Step 3: Allow the pillow to dry completely.
Put the pillow on a towel to dry.It should be dry for at least 24 hours before being used again.Don't use the pillow until it's completely dry.If the pillow is drying on a towel, it's a good idea to turn it over every couple of hours.Clothespins can be used to hang the pillow from a line or you can lay it over a towel bar.
Step 4: Attach the microbead pillow to the pillowcase.
It's a good idea to wash your microbead pillow in a washing machine so that it doesn't get damaged or ripped. If you want to prevent damage, put the microbead pillow inside a larger pillowcase or laundry bag that can be closed. If the outside fabric of the microbead pillow gets torn in the washing machine, a pillowcase should be used.If the pillowcase colors do run, they won't stain it, so make sure it's the same color as the microbead pillow.
Step 5: The microbead pillow should be washed in a load with items of the same colour.
You should always wash your microbead pillow. It could ruin the pillow by stretching it too much.It is helpful to wash your microbead pillow with towels as the wet towels will weigh down the pillow and make sure it doesn't get damaged. If the colour of the fabric runs, make sure the other items in the load are the same colors as the microbead pillow.
Step 6: The gentle cycle can be used with warm or cold water.
The washing machine shouldn't damage the microbead pillow.Warm or cold water can be used to prevent fabric colors from running. You can use whatever mild laundry detergent you have on hand. You can find a bottle at any grocery or department store if you don't have mild laundry detergent. It's a good idea to avoid using bleach or fabric softener when washing your pillow.
Step 7: The microbead pillow needs to be dry in a dryer.
Take the washed items out of the washing machine and put them in the dryer. The dryer should be set to its lowest temperature. Before the contents are completely dried, set the sensor to stop.If you need to use the dryer for other items, you can take the microbead pillow out before it is completely dry.The microbead pillow should be kept in the pillowcase.
Step 8: Hang the pillow to dry it.
Remove the microbead pillow from the pillowcase once it is dry in the dryer.Hang the pillow to dry.If you can't hang it up, lay it on a dry towel to dry.If you want, you can put the pillowcase back in the dryer. If you lay the pillow on a dry towel to finish drying, turn it over after a couple of hours to make sure both sides dry completely.
